چکیده

The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system plays an important role in authentication, security control, supply chain management, and inventory control. Due to market consideration, low-cost RFID systems have become very popular in recent years. In many applications, such as e-passport, RFID systems need security mechanisms to resist all possible attacks and security risks. However, because of extensive computation requirements and high memory space demand for most security mechanisms, they are not suitable for low-cost RFID tags. In this paper, we propose two ultralightweight authentication protocols for low-cost RFID tags. The first protocol is based on dynamic identity and the second one on static identity. Both protocols have the merits of obtaining mutual authentication, protecting the user’s privacy, and low computation cost. Furthermore, the proposed protocols can resist replay, impersonation, and de-synchronization attacks.

Analysis and Enhancement of Desynchronization Attack on an Ultralightweight RFID Authentication Protocol

As low-cost RFID tags become more and more ubiquitous, it is necessary to design ultralightweight RFID authentication protocols to prevent possible attacks and threats. We reevaluate Ahmadian et al.’s desynchronization attack on the ultralightweight RFID authentication protocol with permutation (RAPP). Our results are twofold: (1) we demonstrate that the probability of the desynchronization bet...

Enhancing privacy of recent authentication schemes for low-cost RFID systems

Nowadays Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems have appeared in lots of identification and authentication applications. In some sensitive applications, providing secure and confidential communication is very important for end-users. To this aim, different RFID authentication protocols have been proposed, which have tried to provide security and privacy of RFID users. In this paper, we a...

Advances in Ultralightweight Cryptography for Low-Cost RFID Tags: Gossamer Protocol

The design of ultralightweight authentication protocols that conform to low-cost tag requirements is imperative. This paper analyses the most important proposals (except for those based in hard problems such as the HB [1–3] family) in the area [4–6] and identifies the common weaknesses that have left all of them open to various attacks [7–11]. Finally, we present Gossamer, a new protocol inspir...

Yet Another Ultralightweight Authentication Protocol That Is Broken

Eghdamian and Samsudin published at ICIEIS 2011 an ultralightweight mutual authentication protocol that requires few bitwise operations. The simplicity of the design makes the protocol very suitable to low-cost RFID tags. However, we demonstrate in this paper that the long-term key shared by the reader and the tag can be recovered by an adversary with a few eavesdropped sessions only.

A One Round-Trip Ultralightweight Security Protocol for Low-Cost RFID Tags

Radio Frequency Identification systems are already used in many sensitive areas, and are likely to be adopted almost everywhere. But their massive deployment implies several security and privacy issues. Moreover, low cost RFID tags have very limited storage and computational capabilities and cannot afford classic cryptographic primitives, which makes them vulnerable to several attacks. In this ...
